Developing Weebly websites 05/21/2010
Weebly is a website development tool I discovered a few days ago. I have been using World of Antiques as a test site while I learn to use it. So far this is going very well. This morning I figured out how to change the default text color so it has more contrast and is easier to read. I only had to make one change which is nice. If you start messing around with to many settings it is easy to make upgrades break your site . Now that I don't have to manually set the text color for each new entry I will go to work on the PayPal integration. It looks like my regular PayPal business account will be enough. Some of the shopping cart software I have looked at requires the upgraded (expensive) Pro account. I will have to set up the Thank You and Return pages. I need to see how the system handles the addition of shipping charges. I want to be sure I understand all the nuances of how this system works before I start building more of them. It's always painful when you think you know how things work, set up a lot of sites that way, and then have to go back and fix things by hand. Hello Antiques World 05/20/2010
World of Antiques will gradually fill with pictures and descriptions of antiques and collectibles we plan to sell. A few will probably be listed on Ebay to see if we can use them to drive traffic to this site. We expect to sell many of them directly from this site. If you prefer to buy on Ebay for whatever reason, we are always willing to create a one day auction with a Buy It Now so you can do that. This site is being built with a website building system called Weebly. This is only the second site we are building with it, but so far are very happy with what we are finding. It is reasonably easy to use and so far we have not found any missing functions that are critical to what we want to do. If that sounds interesting you can use our Weebly Affiliate Link to check them out. We get a small commission if you sign up for their pro service, but you can test a lot of their system for free. |
