Expertic was the brand name used by the East German (DDR) on the goods they exported for hard currency. Since the Erzgebirge region of Germany was in the east, this label helps date the items. We will be displaying most of our Expertic items on their own website.
German Nutcrackers
Nutcrackers have been part of the German Christmas celebration for a long time. I think they were originally designed to crack the Filberts (Hazelnuts) which are an important holiday staple.

German Smokers
German smokers come apart and have a metal pan where an incense cone is placed inside and lit. The smoke comes out of the mouth. They evolved as a popular folk art after the silver mines were depleted and come in thousands of shapes and sizes.
